When Michelangelo was commissioned to paint The Last Judgement the Popes Master of Ceremonies Biagio da Cesena complained about his work and put it down. He told the pope that the work was not appropriate for a church piece and should be in a bath house or local pub. He tried to get the pope to have it changed and punish Michelangelo, but the Pope just joked about it and Biagio da Cesena is still in the painting. He is depicted as Minos (Judge of the Underworld) with donkey ears to indicate foolishness and a snake biting his privates. This sounds like it might be cheap therapy for an artist. Maybe every artist should try putting people that tick them off in pictures of hell with donkey ears. It might lower depression among artists. If you were to draw someone with donkey ears, who would it be?
